Speaking Styles
Today, I watched 4 speeches that helped me learn how to deliver interesting speeches. I learned that it's a lot about your tone of voice. The first speech that we watched was done by a speaker with a very boring tone of voice. I tried listening to it without the video and found myself very bored. On the other hand, the other three speeches were very interesting. The speakers changed their tone of voice a lot, added pauses for effect, and kept me entertained the whole time. I really liked Obama's speech because his body language was very good, and so was his tone of voice. However, Zach Wahls's would do the best job at delivering my speech because he seems really good at delivering educational speeches where as Obama is better at inspirational speeches. I'm going to use the technique of adding pauses in my speech because it makes the speech more effective in general.
Written Speeches
Out of all the speeches, I really liked Obama's speech because he delivered it really well and it was very interesting. A message that really stuck to me was when he was talking about words. He delivered that part of the speech really well with dramatic pauses and changes in his body language and voice. The speech really made me want to learn more because he made some really good points but I don't know enough information yet to take action. I was really inspired from the speech. Not from his actual words, but to make my speech better. He made amazing points, but his speaking skills really inspired me to improve my own speech.
